Credit Human requires its volunteers and employees to observe the highest standards of business and personal ethics in the conduct of their duties and responsibilities. Credit Human has established a Code of Ethics, Standards of Conduct, and other values based documents to serve as guides; however this documentation is not all inclusive and volunteers and employees are expected to maintain reasonable workplace conduct.

Credit Human is not required to establish a Whistleblower Program, but has done so because it represents "best business practices" and "sound corporate governance". The National Credit Union Administration's (NCUA) Letters to Federal Credit Unions 03-FCU-07 states that, "each credit union's Supervisory Committee should establish a mechanism, appropriate to the size and complexity of the credit union, for employees to submit concerns confidentially and anonymously.

Definitions

Personnel:
Credit Union volunteers and employees.
Wrongdoing:
Material violation of applicable laws, rules and regulations.
CUES EthicsSourceTM (CES):
Independent and confidential third party agency that investigates certain suspected Wrongdoings and reports findings to the Credit Human Supervisory Committee.

Personnel are encouraged to make reports of suspected Wrongdoings through the chain of command within the organizational structure of the credit union without fear of retaliation, which is strictly prohibited. If, and only if any of the following conditions are met, Personnel should file reports of suspected Wrongdoings, as defined herein, through this CES website link:

  • Personnel fear retaliation or otherwise feel uncomfortable if suspected Wrongdoings are reported through their chain of command, or
  • Personnel suspect that prior reports through the chain of command were not addressed to their satisfaction.

The issues Personnel may have that do not fall within the narrow definition of Wrongdoing herein are not the subject of this policy and should not be reported through CES, but should be reported through the chain of command.

Suspected Wrongdoings, regardless of how they are reported, will be appropriately investigated and corrective action, if any, will be implemented on a timely basis.
